The area is also home to many artisans, craft and antique businesses. It is best to visit on the weekend when the majority of businesses are open.

The court house in Smith St, built in 1887, is classified by the National Trust, while the Wesley Uniting Church in Victoria St opened in 1889. The Warragul Historical Museum, containing local history and dairy exhibits, is situated in the old shire hall (1892). Of further historical interest is the Warragul Vintage Craft Park in Copelands Road which contains functioning examples of old farm equipment, a miniature steam train which carries visitors through the park and gardens, as well as barbecue and picnic facilities. Entrance is free and there is a playground for children.

Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort is the closest snowsports resort to Melbourne, just two and a half hours drive from Melbourne and even closer to Gippsland. The road is sealed all the way to the Village carpark, so the mountain is even more accessible than ever. Being so close to Melbourne and Gippsland it is ideal for day skiiers, boarders and families.

15 km to the south is Mount Worth State Park, consisting of 164 hectares of land recovered after logging and grazing ceased. The ruins of old timber mills can still be seen in the vicinity. The mountain itself overlooks the valley to the north and meandering creeks to the south. The park can be approached off the Darnum to Hallston Road. This track leads to the Moonlight Creek picnic area where the Cameron Valley walking track begins its one-hour circuit through the mountain ash forest.

Visitors to Neerim, to the north of Warragul, may wish to visit the dairy farm where Gippsland blue cheese can be seen in the making and tea can be enjoyed in the tea room. To the north-east is the Baw Baw National Park while Reservoir Hill, off Brandy Creek Road, offers fine views of Warragul and the district. Other scenic spots in the area include the Glen Cromie and Glen Nayook nature reserves and the Tarago reservoir on the Jindiwick Road.

Old Gippstown is a heritage park made up of 35 buildings depicting the history of Gippsland. It operates 7 days a week from 7.30am until 5pm. After hours bookings welcome. It has a licensed coffee shop/restaurant and boasts many varied events and activities throughout the year.

Take a drive through the majestic mountain rivers country & be transported back to a bygone era. Walhalla is a special place, it stands almost frozen in time much as it was a hundred years ago. It was a bustling gold mining town in the late 1800 's and then was the second largest town in the whole of Gippsland, with a population of over 3000 residents.

The building in which the Warragul Cinema Centre occupies has a long and interesting history. Situated in the central business district it has been the primary entertainment venue for Warragul and surrounding areas since the 1930’s when Mr. W.A Lawson built and operated an impressive cinema and live theatre.

From the 1930’s to 1950’s the building underwent a series of re-developments. With a seating capacity of 960 complete with stage, dress circle and stalls and near perfect acoustics, this building was the venue for all-live shows and public hall events such as school speech night’s etc. within the area. It proudly boasts the appearance of the renowned pianist, Winifred Artwell who played to a packed house. Even the local boy, Lionel Rose boxed at this venue. It was and still is the hub of entertainment for the district.

As was the case with many large entertainment venues, the theatre closed in the late 1970’s and for a brief period, shops and offices leased the downstairs section of the building. The upstairs space remained empty prior to an indoor Cricket Club occupying this area that is currently our cinema premises.

In the late 1990’s Graeme and Deborah Hollingsworth saw the need for a cinema complex in the district and persuaded the owners of the building to once again develop the site.

The Warragul Cinema Centre re-opened its doors to the public on 1st January 1998 as a modern three screen cinema complex. With a seating capacity of 430, large screens, Dolby sound systems and screening a large number of blockbuster, main stream and art-house movies, the centre has once again become the entertainment hub of the district.

In July 2002 The Warragul Cinema Centre became part of the Peninsula Cinema Group.

Come into Warragul Bowland and enjoy a great bowling experience!! With arcade games and an equipped bar Warragul Bowl is the place to stop in during the week, weekend or school holidays.

Those interested in the arts may wish to investigate the acoustically-designed West Gippsland Arts Centre. Built on a 2.5 acre site, it is the focal point of the town's Civic Centre Complex. For the botanically-minded there are the attractive displays at Rowses Flower Farm in Warragul South or the wildflower sanctuary at Labertouche.
