About Churrasco

Churrasco originated in Southern Brazil, in the mid-1500s as the staple food style of the local cowboys or ‘gauchos’ when they slowly cooked salt-rubbed and marinated beef over emebers of their evening fires.

Our Churrascaria de Rodizio is particularly exciting. The meal begins with a shared tasting platter of Turkish bread, freshly made dips and small tapas.

When you’re ready, the kitchen sends roasted seasonal vegetables to your table and a special ‘satisfaction’ card – green on one side and red on the other.

From the fire, our ‘passadors’ (waiters) deliver ‘espetos’ (small swords) of your favourite, freshly cooked, marinated and basted meats and seafood (fish, calamari, chicken, pork, beef, lamb and chorizo sausage) to your table and carve them directly onto your plate. The food keeps coming while your card shows green. When you have had your fill you turn your card to the red side as a signal to the passadors that you are resting or have finished eating.

Desserts are available at standard prices from our delicious menu.

For a really authentic taste of Spain indulge in a Brandy Creek Wines & View Cafe’s Famous Paella Feast and discover the excitement of traditional paella with five regional variations of this famous Spanish culinary masterpiece:

* Paella de Marisco – traditional seafood including fish, prawns, mussels and squid
* Paella Manchega – traditional meat with chicken, pork (including crackling), lamb and beef
* Paella Blanca – a tasty combination of scallops, leek and calamari
* Chicken and Chorizo Cazuela with saffron rice
* Paella Vegetarian

Nibble a selection of tapas with a complimentary glass of wine while watching the culinary theater of Chef Jose and his team creating perfect paellas, savoring the heavenly aromas as they are brought to perfection.

When the time is right, the rice perfect, the flavours absorbed, you will be invited to indulge in as much paella as you like – try some of each or simply choose your favorite.

But be sure to leave room for our Spanish-inspired desserts and espresso coffee and tea.

The Paellas at Brandy Creek Wines are made from the traditional Calaspara Rice variety. This is a special “round” rice variety only grown in the Murcia region of Spain.

Nestled within the hills of West Gippsland, Gracefield Venison Farm has extensive acres for the animals to roam freely and happily. Graham Edyvane, who owns and runs the Farm, has a hands-on involvement with day to day activity, making sure his livestock feel comfortable around him and ensuring they are at ease in natural surroundings for as much of the time as possible. Animals are encouraged to be predominantly grass fed with minimum supplementary feeding taking place in winter months.

We welcome everyone to come and walk with us and feed and talk to the animals - you will certainly see how contented they are! Call June and Graham to arrange a visit.

Gracefield Venison is lean and has a texture that is supple and tender and is very moist. It provides high levels of protein compared with beef, lamb, pork and chicken, and lower levels of fat and cholesterol. It will also provide a good source of vitamins B12 and B6, both of which are good for a healthy heart, and omega oils and the immunity boosting zinc and selenium, a powerful anti-oxidant.

So, the next time you are planning on meat for dinner, try the iron-rich, vitamin-packed alternative to beef. Gracefield Venison can add variety to your diet as well as good health to your life.
